Almost 30! || 70’s Glam Dinner Party Style Inspo

Hey guys!

Good morning! I have a big birthday coming up on Sunday, and in celebration of leaving my twenties, we’ll be kicking down the door of my 30th in full 70’s Glam Dinner Party flair!

This isn’t your everyday, casual vibe. No. We’re dressing up!! In an effort to point my guests in the right direction, I spent a lot of time curating a visual compilation of some of my favorite looks from back then, as well as modern adaptations to share here on the blog.

Anyone who knows me knows that a solid 75% of my style is inspired by this era. The hair, the fashion, the music, the activism, all of it. Totally my stylo…

So! Pick out your afro. If you’ve got a layered cut, bust out the wings. Center part your hair. Grab that turtleneck and suit. Throw on that jumpsuit/maxi, and most importantly, your fur! Grab that fur collar, vest, coat –your call– and let’s celebrate!

Press. Play.

I want everybody stepping into that thang like this:

Whichever your stylo haha Below you’ll find the gallery. Enjoy!

It’s time for a change

This year I did things a little differently. I planted written reminders of my vision for my life and words of encouragement all around my room and in my devotionals. The beauty of vision is that it creates a filter, so whether I come across one of these intentionally or it slips out of my Jesus Calling like this one, I have a reminder right there in front of me of my vision for this year and beyond. Each time I come across one, it serves as a checkpoint for me to ask myself, what’s working? What’s not working? Is there something I can do differently? It also allows me to recognize when it’s time to switch things up and/or try something new all together. If we change when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing, it’s imperative to recognize that pain, angst, or whatever you want to call it, and create opportunities to win. So many battles start in the heart and mind, and I choose to believe that we can position ourselves to welcome a beautiful shift once our minds can convince our hearts of the fullness we have in store in each and every area: our careers, our families, love, all of it. Chase the vision. It’s wonderfully beautifully ours for the taking.Happy Thursday guys! Xoxo-Chels 💋

As of May // 10 things I’ve taken from #2016 so far.

April 2016 Review:

  1. Give yourself permission to live a big life.

  2. Step into who you are meant to be.

  3. Know your worth -stop playing it small.

  4. Make real connections.

  5. Be intentional.

  6. Be specific.

  7. Take risks -challenge your comfort zone.

  8. Don’t wait. Do it scared.

  9. Surround yourself with the best -People who love you, push you, motivate you, laugh with you, hurt with you, for you, pray with you, for you, etc.

  10. Keep God at the center of it all. Trust Him to lead the way.

We’re meant for greater things. We just have to commit to tapping into it. I can’t say this enough. Trust the process. Trust your path. Stay in your lane. Believe all things are working together for the good.

It’s a new month. Let’s speak everything we’re believing for into these next few weeks. Our words create our world 🙏🏾
