#AxiomHTX

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing one of the best night’s out I’ve had in Houston, ever, all thanks to The Hive Society. #AxiomHTX was their very first fundraiser, and to say the least, they blew me and just about everyone else away. It was at least 5k degrees in there, and it didn’t even seem to phase anyone. We danced, sang along to our favorite hits old and new, and celebrated the artists and designers they featured that night. I’ve always said that Hive Society founder, Adrian Edmonds, knows how to throw a freaken good party, and this one was no exception. Salute to him, Julie Julez and the whole Hive Society team on the super success of #AxiomHTX!! Already looking forward to the next one.

Curious to know what you missed? See below for an excerpt from their recap, and enjoy the photos:

AXIOM began at 8:00pm with our first set of guests enjoying the gallery while the A/C was still somewhat effective. I’ll be honest, I knew that our event would be successful but I had no idea that so many people would come out. The gallery filled with beautiful people, all dressed in their best for the occasion. The vibe of AXIOM’s first hour reflected the quaint and charming character of a customary art exhibit to a more contemporary soundtrack. After about 9:30pm… more here.

Coffey Break Chat || The thing about approaching 30… and settling…

Hey guys!
I’m pretty pumped. This is my first Coffey Break Chat of 2015! It’s funny. I was on the phone with a friend last week telling her about how Cooking with the Coffey’s (a cooking spot I do with my little sister for the site) is somewhat of a comic relief after a few years writing and vlogging about being in the storm and that this year, I just wanted to breathe and have fun with The Coffey Break…
The irony, is that I then proceeded to talk to her for about another hour pouring out my heart about everything from career goals to relationships, and realized that I actually have so much to share!
I guess I’m not really wired to suppress my emotions, much less conversations, especially when it comes to the topic of settling. I’m like noooo! Don’t do it! haha
Join me as I share how I’ve managed to remain dedicated to the vision I have for my future, even when everything is going crazy and those standards seem like more of an ideal than something I could actually be believing for.
The pressure to settle for less than God’s best in regard to one thing or another comes in waves for everyone. My current fight is simple: Don’t let 30 bully me into making poor choices. *Repeat lol
Enjoy!

Love What You Do, May!

Hey hey!
Tuesday, May 6th, we had a blast kicking off the summer run of our Love What You Do networking mixer! Dj Fanci, Ahrif Sarumi and I want to extend a huge warm heartfelt thank you to everyone for coming out to support our vision of bringing together our city’s dreamers, doers, believers, etc. to the same place, at the same time. The clothes pin icebreaker was a hit, and it was great to see so many connections being made.
If you’re still drooling over those tasty delights we enjoyed, be sure to follow CHEF VICKY V  @FOODEZonthego! And of course, we’d like to offer an extra special thanks to Grace Rodriguez and Dean’s Downtown for being such great hosts.
Last but not least, congratulations to Ahrif on leaving his job to pursue his dreams full time, and Val (Dj Fanci) on the super successful launch of her video show for 97.9 The Box. You’re living the dream! Love you guys!!
Be sure to: check out @whos_boudreaux, @InMuse & @ohmynamebigtob for updates on their upcoming projects, and post your photos from the event with the hashtag #LWYDHou.
We’ll see you in June! Take a look below for photos from the event!
Until next time… Peace, Love & Sunshine -Chelsea

Houston, I’m Officially Crushing on You: Arts Edition

Fashion Plate, Arsenal 7 Series, and The Lion King Musical

To say the least, I am having a bit of a summer romance with the city of Houston. There is an abundance of events and activities to take part in, and trying to juggle all the ones I find interesting has been a bit of a challenge. Sunday night  I had the pleasure of going to KING + MUSIC + FASHION + YOU at Mongoose Versus Cobra and it was the perfect  combination.

For starters, if you haven’t been to Mongoose Versus Cobra yet, go. It’s swanky in a subtle way, and the exposed brick wall makes for a great impromptu photo shoot -never a disappointment. The original designs by Arsenal 7 Series designers Kyle Futrell and KK are one of a kind, and I was totally blown away by the friendliness of the Lion King cast. Oh, and did I mention that the DJ was amazing?! His name is DJ Francesco Conti, and my poor Shazam was getting put to work! Words can’t capture all the reasons why I had a such a good time Sunday night, but maybe the photos and video will.

Enjoy!
