Take My Hand || Daily Devotional 6.24.16

Hi guys!

I love that today’s Jesus Calling started off the way it did. Holding hands is the most classic form of security to me. Whether it was my dad holding my hand when I was little (and now haha), prayer, holding hands with your love, or reaching out for a child’s hand as you cross the street, there’s a closeness that is immediately transferred once it rests in the palm of another.
Correlating that sense of intimacy and security with our Heavenly Father is such a special way to remind us that depending on Him in each and every situation does not make us weak or immature. It’s simply the most natural reflection of connection and trust.
Being an adult is HARD some days, really hard haha Just remember we’re not in this thing alone. I hope this is useful for someone. Have a great day you guys! Xoxo -Chels 💋

Somehow, Marilyn Monroe managed to sum up so many of the thoughts and feelings from my entire day yesterday in one quote all those years ago…

Before I get to it. Know this-

The enemy will try to steal our joy, and that’s the beauty of faith. The part he can’t quite comprehend –that God sees every need, big & small, and that He will send us guardian angels in the beautiful form of friends to carry us through even the most difficult of days. Days where something in their spirit stirs so strongly that they just have this gut feeling to reach out to you, or be connected to you, even if they don’t know why or where that feeling is coming from.

It’s all about a vibe, a frequency, and I do my best to cherish the ones who are synced up to me in that way 💗

I know I stress the importance of relationships so much on here, but it’s something I believe in so strongly. Find your tribe. Love them hard 🙏🏾

This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up.

Girls will be your friends – they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything – they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them…

Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them – actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything.

Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.

Coffey Break Chat: Crticism

Hi guys!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I personally consider Thanksgiving the kickoff of the holiday season and true to the memes that have been flooding our timelines, it got me thinking about how much chit we take during the holidays sometimes. There’s extra pressure everywhere form the workplace to the home, and Lord knows that pressure doesn’t always bring out the best in us…

Today’s Coffey Break Chat is dedicated to the topic of criticism, and more importantly, how to separate the good from the bad. As always thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Kids, Teens and a Growing Addiction to Porn

Okay, so this is heavy. I’ve noticed  a recurring theme in the news and it’s heartbreaking. The issue is focusing on the growing epidemic of online porn addiction found in children and teens. By no means am I an expert on this topic, but I would like to share a new TED book,  The Demise of Guys: Why Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It by Philip Zimbardo and  Nikita Duncan, as well as a recent article I read, Jamie is 13 and hasn’t even kissed a girl. But he’s now on the Sex Offender Register after online porn warped his mind…  Please see the excerpt below from The Daily Mail Online:

Jamie was ten years old when he saw his first pornographic sex scene. During a sleepover, a classmate offered to show him ‘some funny pictures’ on his laptop.

‘At first I found it a bit scary and a bit yucky,’ Jamie told me as he shifted uncomfortably on his chair during our therapy session.

‘I didn’t know it was possible for people to do those sort of things — and there were lots of nasty close-ups. But it gave me funny feelings and the pictures started to stick in my head.’

For the next three years, while his parents assumed he was using his computer for his homework, Jamie visited porn websites for up to two hours a night…

Whether you have children, brothers, sisters, cousins, a Mentee, whatever, I strongly believe that this is one of the top issues that needs to be on one’s radar when it comes to children. So many of the issues we see in adults stem from one’s childhood. Our children are our future, and it is our responsibility to be accountable so that they have the most promising future possible.

Please share this post. God only knows how many families have this going on in their very own homes, and they don’t even know it yet.

Pray hard.
