Tomboy Tuesday

1 8:20:13Some days everything goes right, and when I’m fortunate enough to come across one of those, I don’t take it lightly. I’ve coined my favorite day of the week “Tomboy Tuesday” because it seems I always have something sporty/casual on. Tuesday’s look was inspired by my sudden urge to deep condition my hair. It had been gray and rainy outside most of the afternoon, so it was the perfect kinda day to bust out a kufi to conceal my conditioning hair and hit the road.

My shower cap was totally hidden. The only giveaway was the crunchy sound it would make whenever someone would touch my head… hahaha evidently that happens a lot btw

2 8:20:13My Nike Dunk Shy High sneaker wedges have become a utility shoe for me. Ironically, actually kind of like that they match so few of the pieces in my closet. I just have fun with them and throw them on with whatever.

The Look For Less: Solange Knowles

Solange7-20-2013
To acknowledge my love for Solange’s fashion sense as anything short of a full blown style crush would be laughable. She has blossomed into the most refreshing fashion icon. Check out her dress and  jacket by Haitian designer Azede Jean Pierre. This ensemble serve as the inspiration behind this week’s Look for Less.

The look is built around TOPSHOP’s Textured Panel Blazer ($130), a mytheresa.com long sleeve dress shirt ($168), Steve Madden ankle strap sandals (on sale!! $51), Red Stone and Black Colour Block ($20), Winged Clutch Ettika The Faith Statement Plate Triple Chain Bracelet ($18!!) and MAC Lipstick Lady Danger ($15). Never let intimidation get in the way of capturing the looks you dream of. There is always a way to create The Look for Less! Best, Chelsea

Look of the Day 4.7.2013

Hey there!

Hope everyone’s had a nice weekend. There was a part of me that was starting to feel a little sad about the weather warming up…until it does something like DROP 20 degrees in a hour. Thankfully this beautiful city has trained me to be resilient, and my favorite tribal print scarf came to the rescue to save the day.

What I wore:

Hoodie: Marshalls

Jeans: Wish I could remember.

Earrings: Gifted from Paris by our Food Contributor Andrea (Love her!)

Hand/Arm Candy: Forever 21

Shoes: Target

Just FYI, my nonprofit, Mia’s Closet had the wonderful opportunity to receive a prom dresses via a donation drive by Saks Fifth Avenue in the Galleria Houston (photos here). The dresses benefited the ladies of Lil Audrey’s Safe Place Foundation, and it was such an incredible blessing.  To this day, my senior prom was one of the most special experiences I’ve had. Everything from selecting the dress to getting my hair done marked an unforgettable memory. Although we’ve been able to provide the dresses, there are still expenses remaning that could jepeordize the full effect for the girls. Please email us at miasclosethouston@gmail.com if you’re interested in sponsoring (shoes, jewelry, purse, mani/pedi, etc.)  a young lady in need.

Look of the Day 4.3.2013

Hey there!

Hope everyone’s having a good day. A cold front anytime after March is basically my worst nightmare, but there was an upside to today’s crazy weather which resulted in today’s look. Fashion’s all about adaptation, and I actually think I like it better than what I had on initially. Nonetheless, I keep a scarf on me at all times. What do you guys do to beat the weather?

Look of the Day 4.2.2013

Hey all!

This post is long overdue. Thankfully, a friend has finally bullied me into posting my outfits on a daily basis lol She especially emphasized the need to itemize the outfit… In all honesty, that part will be tough. Forgive me if I  simply cannot remember where I purchased something.  I pretty much have to fight the urge to not purchase something that would be the ‘perfect addition to my beloved wardrobe wherever I go. Whether it be a ring, top, jumper, pair of shoes… et al. Something  always seems to catch my eye when I’m out…the shame.

Nonetheless! I will do my best to keep up with this, and hopefully someone will be inspired from time to time 🙂
